2022 WOW Show, Elizabethan Era Section

Show FAQ

Show Information

What night is the Awards Night?

Awards Night: Friday 27 September 2024, 7.30pm

What is a preview?

A preview is a full run of the show in costume, from beginning to end. In theory the director can stop the performance at any time to make changes, but it very rarely happens. Our preview is your chance to see the show before everyone else. It’s great for the budget conscious but good to be aware that competition winners are not announced in these performances.

How long is the show?

Based on previous shows, the performance is approximately 1hr 45mins. There is no intermission.  We will confirm this in August.

The Awards Night show includes an awards ceremony which runs for an additional 40 minutes (approximately). On all performances following Awards Night there will be a short AV presentation of the awards results after the performance which will take approximately 15 minutes.

I am looking for accommodation in Wellington, what do you recommend?

We recommend our Partner hotel, QT Wellington. For further options we suggest you visit WellingtonNZ.com.

What parking facilities are available?

There is a car park below the TSB Arena, operated by Wilson Parking. Charges apply. This car park can get very busy, so please allow yourself enough time to find parking elsewhere. If travelling by taxi, we recommend Wellington Combined Taxis - 04 384 4444.

Can I take photos, video footage or use my cell phone during the show?

The use of videos, cameras, tape recorders and cell phones is prohibited during the show. We do however provide opportunities pre-show in the WOW HUB and with pre-show entertainment to capture your WOW experience.

Please be considerate of audience members and turn your cell phone off before the show starts.

Can you accommodate wheelchairs and other medical issues?

For medical conditions that may affect where you are seated, please contact us directly. There is wheelchair and easy-access seating available.

Email us or call 0800 496 974.

Is the WOW Show suitable for children?

While the show's content is suitable for children, we do ask that you consider a few things before making the decision:

  • We do not offer children ticket prices.
  • The show goes for approx. 100min with no interval.
  • There are a lot of flashy lights and loud music.

Where is the Show venue for the World of WearableArt (WOW) Show?

The show will take place at the TSB Arena, Queens Wharf, Wellington, New Zealand.

What are the dates for the 2024 WOW Show?

26 September - 13 October 2024

The country an entry is from is determined by the place where a designer mostly resides. If an internationally-born designer is living in New Zealand, with New Zealand citizenship or New Zealand permanent residency, they are considered a New Zealand entrant and are not eligible for International Awards.

Internationally-born designers living in New Zealand on temporary visas, are considered International entrants. A design group made up of both New Zealand and International designers are not eligible for the International Awards or the New Zealand Design Award.

Can I submit more than one entry in the Competition?

An entry can consist of up to three garments, and there is no limit to the number of entries that you can submit.

I am a student/first-time entrant but my design partner is not, is our entry eligible for the Student Innovation Award/First-time Entrant Award?

No. Both designers must be students (or graduated within 12 months as at the step 1 deadline) to be eligible for the Student Innovation Award.

This also applies to the First-Time Entrant Award, both designers must be first-time entrants to be eligible for the award.
