Garment Technician & Collection Assistant

We have the joy of working with hundreds of talented designers from around the world each year as they enter the World of WearableArt Awards Competition and have their work brought to life on stage in the annual Awards Show. We never cease to be amazed at the creativity and innovation shown by designers and we are seeking an experienced wardrobe/costume professional to join our Wardrobe team.

The Garment Technician & Collection Assistant’s core focus is maintaining and caring for works of wearable art created by external designers. This role requires extensive garment construction knowledge as well as proven experience working with a range of materials and construction methods. In addition, you will need a strong critical eye as another key aspect of this role is ensuring that garments are worn in line with designer intent.

You will be comfortable problem solving, have exceptional attention to detail, work well under pressure and able to take a leadership role within a team when required. You will also need to be comfortable with the physical aspects of the work which include working with and moving large items e.g. garments, boxes, etc.

This full-time fixed term (April – November 2021) role is Nelson based, with some travel required.

If you have the skills and the drive, and you’d like to work for a vibrant creative organisation with a team of passionate people, then we would love to hear from you.
