The Great Journeys of New Zealand offers four iconic journeys through New Zealand: the Northern Explorer, Interislander, Coastal Pacific and TranzAlpine.
Their scenic train and ferry journeys are internationally renowned, offering travellers the opportunity to explore and savour a unique slice of New Zealand; connecting them with the best landscapes, people, places, and culture New Zealand has to offer.
Their aim is to bring people together to share in a unique and memorable experience, opening minds and igniting a yearning to become uplifted and enriched by their journey.
The Great Journeys of New Zealand have been a major partner of World of WearableArt (WOW) since 2018.
World of WearableArt and The Great Journeys of New Zealand both present unique and iconic experiences in New Zealand. Our partnership is guided by our shared passion for bringing people together, putting the world’s best on show and taking our patrons on a journey beyond the ordinary.
“There’s a natural alignment between The Great Journeys of New Zealand and World of WearableArt. World of WearableArt gives designers a stage to showcase their work and we use New Zealand as the greatest stage on Earth.” – Ella Street, The Great Journeys of New Zealand
In 2019, to bring our partnership to life, WOW and The Great Journeys of New Zealand invited New Zealand designer Stephanie Cossens and her 2018 award winning garment Kākāpō Queen, on one of New Zealand’s most iconic journeys. Together we crossed from the South to the North Island of New Zealand onboard the Interislander ferry.
Set against the backdrop of the Marlborough Sounds we captured content of her incredible work of wearable art and explored on camera the artistic journey Stephanie has been on with WOW, the inspiration she takes from the natural environment of New Zealand and her aspirations for the future.
The content captured during the photo shoot clearly demonstrates the natural alignment between WOW and The Great Journeys of New Zealand brands’ and now forms the creative we use to showcase our partnership.
To celebrate the 2018 WOW Show season and to profile the partnership in its first year, WOW and The Great Journeys of New Zealand activated the Wellington Railway station with the appearance of two award winning garments from WOW’s collection: Saddle Up, Mary Wing To, United Kingdom (2009) and The Stitch Witch, Sarah Seahorse & Luna Aquatica, Victoria University, Australia (2015).
Visitors and Wellingtonians enjoyed the opportunity to see the works of wearable art up close and capture the moment to share with their friends and families.
World of WearableArt looks forward to our continued partnership with The Great Journeys of New Zealand. We see vast opportunities to offer our collective patrons unique experiences and benefits that leverage off the connection between our brands.
In 2022, together we will work towards offering special packages that combine WOW and The Great Journeys of New Zealand experiences. We also aspire to capture more content that connects and showcases the experiences offered by The Great Journeys of New Zealand with some of our extraordinary works of wearable art.
