Garment Technician (Competition, Show & Collection Support)

The World of WearableArt (WOW) is the world’s leading wearable art experience, and encompasses a renowned international wearable art competition, Aotearoa’s single largest theatrical production staged in Wellington annually and exhibition activity both within New Zealand and overseas.

The Garment Technician plays an integral role in each garment’s journey through Competition, Show and Collection activity. In particular providing specialist care (including assessment, repair, and maintenance) of garment entries for the annual Competition and Show, and also garments held in WOW’s permanent collection. Our ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of garment construction, appropriate handling of different materials and a range of construction techniques. The ability to successfully undertake hands-on repair and maintenance of a diverse range of garments is essential. An eye for detail is vital, as are strong organisational and communication skills. You’ll be confident working with Word, Excel and Outlook, and ideally also have some experience working with SharePoint and database systems.
