The World of WearableArt Awards Competition is an internationally renowned wearable art competition that attracts entries from over 40 countries each year. Today garments come from across the globe and are brought to life on stage in front of an audience of over 60,000 people. The Competition has grown exponentially over the past 31 years and the creativity of the designers has continued to go from strength-to-strength.
Each year, World of WearableArt invites designers, artists and makers from around the world to realise the unimaginable and challenge the conventional as they create works of art that will be brought to life on stage at the annual World of WearableArt Awards Show.
We love working with our education partners to guide and encourage students to enter the Awards Competition, with a focus on generating entries which demonstrate a high level of design concept and construction.
Offering this platform which develops and extends the abilities of the students and provides them with an unique opportunity to showcase their design skills and creativity through the World of WearableArt Awards Show is something we are very proud of.

Each year we love to see students creating form and structure in inventive ways through research and collaboration and are inspired by students exploring new materials and implementing innovative methods to design garments that explore the connection between fashion and art.
In the 2019 Awards Competition there were 21 student entries among the finalists representing 12 tertiary institutions from New Zealand and around the world! Many of the international student finalists (and a number of their tutors) travelled to Wellington, New Zealand from around the world and were able to witness the excitement of Awards Week first-hand, connect with peers and industry professionals, see the work of other finalist designers, attend a range of designer events that we hosted and of course, be present for the highly anticipated Awards Night and the 2019 Awards Ceremony.
