2004 Entries Open - Montana WOW Awards

This year’s Montana World of WearableArt™ Awards has a prize pool totalling more than NZ$85,000 – making it one of the most significant and lucrative art competitions in New Zealand.

In addition to receiving $10,000 – the Supreme Winner also receives an American Express International travel prize, and a trophy created by internationally renowned Hoglund Art Glass.

The prize money in each section has increased by $2000 this year – with the winning designer receiving $4000, highly commended a $1000, and the commended designer taking home $500.

This year will see the return of the very popular Nelson City Council Reflective Surfaces section, which was included for the first time in 2002. The spectacular section spawned not only the section title, but also the Supreme Award the Bernina Sewing Centre First Time Entrant Award for Stuart Johnson of Wellington with his entry “Persephone’s Descent”.

Following the success of the inaugural Creative New Zealand Artistic Excellence last year, it will again be open to former WOW® Supreme winners and previous Judges. The theme for 2004 promises an eclectic mix – with the brief “From Impressionism to Surrealism”

Show creator Suzie Moncrieff says the choice of sections and themes for the 2004 Montana WOW® Awards will once again challenge the imaginations of designers from all over the world.

Work is well underway on the script and staging for the show which opens for a seven night season at Nelson’s Trafalgar Centre on Friday September 10.

There has already been a huge demand both nationally and internationally for entry forms, which can be collected from World of WearableArt™ & Collectable Cars in Nelson, downloaded on line from the WOW® website at www.worldofwearableart.com or by calling World of WearableArt on 03 548 9299.
