Demand for tickets to the 2003 Montana World of WearableArt™ Awards has ensured a sell out for the event’s first ever six-night season.
WOW® made the decision to extend the annual Nelson shows to cover two weekends earlier this year, and the public has shown overwhelming support.
WOW® Marketing Manager Donna Ching says the season extension was a big step for the organisers, as extending the event over two weekends involved a lot of additional hireage and performer costs.
“It’s testament to the support of people from around the country and increasingly from all over the world for the Awards” Ms Ching says “it also means more than 15,000 people will experience the shows this year, which is an amazing number and great exposure for WOW®”
WOW® also managed its own ticket sales for the first time this year, using advanced booking software, which enabled some market research.
“Early analysis shows that just under 40 per cent of tickets went to Nelson buyers – and the remainder were from outside the region. Three per cent were from overseas. The ticket sales have also shown a trend of multiple buys with many Nelsonians purchasing tickets for out of town friends and family” Ms Ching says.
“It is confirming our belief that the shows bring thousands of people and their spending power to the region each year, and the extended season means they’ll be here for more than just one weekend. It’s great for WOW® and Nelson”
Ms Ching says the availability of internet sales was widely used by people outside Nelson, with 70% of internet sales going to other regions.
The 2003 Montana WOW® Awards are being held at Nelson’s Trafalgar Centre on September 12/13/14 and 19/20/21.
