For the first time in the history of World of WearableArt™, a matinee performance of the 2005 Montana WOW Awards show will be held at Wellington’s Events Centre on Saturday October 1 at 1pm.
WOW® CEO Gabrielle Hervey says it is an exciting step forward that should bring the WOW® experience to a whole new sector of those who prefer daytime performances.
“WOW has been overwhelmed with the demand for tickets and this is one way we can accommodate the continuing numbers of people still wanting to buy. The addition of an extra night show just weeks ago demonstrated just how many people want to go to the 2005 Montana World of WearableArt Awards Show and the team is embracing the challenge of staging two shows on one day.”
The inclusion of the matinee performance will mean more than 26,000 people will see the Montana WOW® Awards on September 23/24/25/29/30/1 and 2.
Demand for tickets to the iconic New Zealand event have been unprecedented, with sales 30 per cent higher than this time last year.
“It’s fabulous to know there is so much support for WOW. However this will certainly be our last additional performance so I would suggest anyone that is considering purchasing tickets should get in quick” Ms Hervey says.
Wellington Mayor Kerry Prendergast says she is delighted that WOW will stage a matinee performance.
“It’s fantastic news and Wellington is very much looking forward to hosting this wonderful event in our city. Innovative and creative events such as the Montana World of WearableArt Awards Show reinforce the city’s reputation as the Arts and Cultural Capital of New Zealand. I’m delighted that holding the show in Wellington has allowed many more people to see it. Bring it on, we can’t wait,” she says.
The Montana WOW® Awards are open to designers from all over the world, and have a prize pool of over $100,000. Entries close next month, and rehearsals for the two-hour extravaganza begin in Wellington the first week in August.
