The Awards non-elitist approach appeals to entrants from all walks of life. Anyone can enter the Awards and over NZ$100,000 worth of prizes are on offer.
Designers from all over the world (Australia, United Kingdom, Thailand, United States of America, Singapore, Netherlands, Canada) enter the Awards. Check out the designers section of the website for more information on how to enter the Awards.
Over 300 garment entries are received annually. Each garment is viewed by a panel of 4 Judges and on average 60% of the entries are pre selected to make it onto the catwalk. All judging is ‘blind’ with the Judges only being told the garments name and inspiration not the designers name.
A number of New Zealand’s emerging artists and designers have launched their careers with entries in the annual awards.
A New Zealand secondary school competition ‘WOWQuest™’ has been developed allowing schools to participate in the WOW experience.
