From humble beginnings in 1987 as a promotion for a rural art gallery in Nelson, New Zealand, the Montana WOW® Awards have developed into an icon of New Zealand creativity. For more detail on the Montana World of WearableArt™ (WOW) Awards Show, go to What is WOW?
Founder Suzie Moncrieff is the Creative Director of the event which is staged annually over a two week period in Spring with around 30,000 people coming from across the country and increasingly from around the world to celebrate the WOW experience.
The event is now staged in Wellington, New Zealand (since 2005). From its inception in 1987 to 2004 it was staged in Nelson. Nelson continues to be the birthplace of the WOW concept and this is celebrated in the World of WearableArt™ & Classic Cars Museum.
The event is managed by World of WearableArt Ltd, a private company based in Nelson. You can find out about the WOW team here.
