Welcome to the first designer e-news for 2009. With entries currently open many of you have already completed Entry Form A and will be busy designing and making your incredible works of WearableArt™. Good luck and we look forward to seeing them arrive in June!

For those of you who have not yet completed Entry Form A, don't forget that entering the Montana WOW® Awards Show is all about a strong concept, pushing boundaries with materials, 'giving it a go' and having fun. You don't need to be a professional designer to make something great. In fact, some of our Supreme Award winners have been first time entrants. Entering with another person can also be a great way of getting involved.

If you have any questions regarding your ideas and designs don't hesitate to email Heather Palmer, our Competition Director - heather@worldofwearableart.com

If you need any assistance with our online entry process please do not hesitate to contact Ingrid Peek, our Wardrobe & Collection Manager - ingrid@worldofwearableart.com

Stitches & Craft Fair - Melbourne, Australia

Heather & Ingrid recently attended & exhibited at the Stitches & Craft Fair in Melbourne, Australia. Open to the general public for five days in March, the craft fair attracted thousands of people, many of whom had a 'taste' of WearableArt™. The WOW® exhibit consisted of three garments - She Looks Good In A Sack by Cathy 'Tree' Harris of Wellington,  Perelandra  by Claire Prebble of Wellington and The Countess & Her Cousin: A Self Portrait by Lynn Johnston and Felicity Hardy of Melbourne. We were delighted that Lynn and Felicity were able to come along and talk about their garment with visitors.

Hat Couture, Susan Holmes, Auckland
For Australian designers who live near the Orange Regional Gallery
you can still see Auckland WearableArt™ designer Susan Holmes' work. The exhibit runs until 5 May. Susan's 2008 garment Hat Couture won the Tourism New Zealand Avant Garde Section with a striking but simple concept.

Finalist Announcements

In the past we have announced 5 finalists in each category on Awards Night. After careful consideration, we are delighted to announce that this year every designer that makes it through to the Awards Show in 2009, will be considered a finalist.  On Awards Night we will make live announcements for the commended, runner up and the winner from each section, the special awards and the two major awards.

Therefore, all designers selected into the show after first judging will be classed as a finalist and receive a certificate acknowledging this after the show season ends.

We hope that the change will help raise your individual profiles and the profile of your incredible works of WearableArt™.
