Montana World of WearableArt™ Awards Show Winners 2003
A Nelson designer whose inspiration for her entry was the stifling hold of depressive thought is the 2003 Montana World of WearableArt Supreme WOW Winner.
Greta Tappers design shows how thoughts created by depression bind you within, hobbling and muting, with even the catharsis of writing them down not giving relief, as they are unable to be explained to another reader.
Her garment of herringbone canvas, interfacing, leather and plastic, featured a large book, with the writers hands chained, and the speakers mouth bound.
Greta Tapper graduated from the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) with a diploma in Fashion and Textiles in 1999. She completed the NMIT's diploma in Costume Design in 2003 and has a dream of working in production design.
